Rory roared to another victory at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic, making his #1 in the world even more secure. FSU alumni 24 year old Brooks Koepka won the Waste Management Phoenix Open on Super Bowl Sunday. Korean born, 17 year old LPGA Professional Lydia Ko became the youngest #1 player in history beating Tiger's feat by 4 years. Well Done Miss Ko! Jason Day won in a playoff with J.B.Holmes at the Farmers Insurance at Torrey Pines. Back here in Florida, Paul Goydas took home the hardware at the Allianz Championship played at the Old Course at the elegant Broken Sound Club in Boca Raton. Orlando's own Lee Janzen won his first Champions Tour event at the Ace Group Classic in Naples in a playoff with Bart Bryant, 16 years from his last Tour win, the 1998 US Open. Brandt Snedeker won his second ATT Pebble Beach Pro-Am with a 22 under record breaking performance, and at the Pure Silk Bahamas LPGA Classic, Sei Young Kim won her first LPGA tournament in a three way playoff. James Hahn won his first PGA Tournament in a 3-way tie breaker at Riviera Country Club to capture the Northern Trust title. LPGA World # 1 Lydia Ko won her 6th title 2 months before her 18th birthday at Royal Melbourne to win the Australian Women's Open.

The game lost two of its prized people in February: Charlie Sifford, who broke the color barrier of the PGA, died at 92 after recently receiving the Presidential Medal of Honor in 2014. Billy Casper at age 83, passed peacefully with numerous accolades to his name, but wanting to remembered as the gentle soul he truly was to his fellow man. Both were members of the World Golf Hall of Fame. I had the opportunity to interview both Mr. Sifford and Mr. Casper, and I remember very warm and generous gentlemen. God Speed.

The Florida Swing starts now. Go out and support the PGA Tour at these venues: The Honda Classic at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens; WGC-Cadillac Championship at Trump National Doral, Miami; The Valspar Championship at Innisbrook Resort in Palm Harbor; and the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill in Orlando. Remember monies derived from our support go to local charities around the state.
